The answer is probably 'Yes'. A keyword rich domain does increase your search engine ranking. Hence, be careful what you call your domain - if it reflects what you are selling you will gain automatic visibility with the leading search engines.

How this works? Well, when you search with the help of your targeted keywords, the URL having the same keywords is identified immediately by the search engine and hence you get a higher ranking than you would have got otherwise. This is also true when other websites link to your site. Once again, the fact the exact keywords are figuring in the URL can make a small difference - but a positive one!
